Apologies Challenge by PurpleYin
Summary: The theme is "Sorry" - the word must feature in the fic and it can otherwise be what you want as long as it has them both in. Multiship, death, angst, AU - wahteer you want is fine (just warn us first) and ficlet are wonderful ways to get into writing fic for new writers and also great ways to play in ideas you'd never do a full length fic on.

Limit is 500 words. Let's see what you folks can do with that. :)

Cat and Dog Challenge by Fanwoman
Summary: Elizabeth loves dogs. Rodney loves cats. Many consider this to be an irreconcilable difference. Please write a story in which they discuss and/or resolve this issue as one of the steps along the path of having a meaningful relationship. It doesn't have to be fluffy, but I would like it to not be dark. As incentive, I'll write a drabble for each qualifying story, the topic of which will be discussed between myself and each author.

Write a fic based on this summary...

Rodney is working on something--it can be offworld or on Atlantis--and loses consciousness. When he wakes up, he's on a completely different world with a medieval culture. He's taken prisoner by the local guards and when he's taken before the ruler, to his shock, it's none other than Sheppard. Sheppard decides to make McKay his Royal Jester, because he's so amused by the crazy man's antics.

Meanwhile, a rival kingdom is looking to increase the size of its borders...and its ruler will do anything to get it...even use the Jester. Can Rodney resist her advances, especially when she looks so much like Elizabeth? And can he figure out how to get home before he's stuck in the alternate world forever?

Must:

  • End up McKay/Weir
  • Have at least one reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  • Be multi-chaptered
Bonus: have two members of WeirMcKayship be fellow prisoners who get their heads chopped off. Be sure to ask permission if you do this...

I was reading a (non-McWeir) fic a while back, I think called Puppet Master, in which Rodney (who was not in complete control of his faculties) tried to kill Elizabeth. This really shocked me, especially as a McWeir shipper, and the emotional aftermath of the attack is really taking it's toll on Elizabeth. Anyway, this is only a minor part of that story, but I was surprised at how interested I was in that part of the storyline. Anyway, it piqued my interest enough for me to want to read some seriously angsty McKay/Weir fic, so here's the challenge:

Either Elizabeth or Rodney has to try to kill the other, and then deal with the aftermath of that attack. That's really the only stipulation. The circumstances of the attack (why it happened, if it's really the character or some evil twin, etc.) are entirely up to you, as is whether the attack is successful...yeesh, I can't believe I just wrote that. I'm seriously not bloodthirsty, I swear! I'm just in the mood for some very heavy, dark emotions. I like my fic black, like my coffee and my mood...

Fire and Ice Challenge - ADULT by PurpleYin

Requirements: Elizabeth and Rodney are trapped somewhere cold, like in Antarctica or some walk in freezer (on Antarctica or Atlantis, etc.) and it's so cold that their only means of producing body warmth is from each other. Also, it must involve an ice cube/icicle/popsicle (only if it's in the fridge, I imagine ;) ) or some other sort of cold frozen treat.

It can be fluffy or angsty, I don't care, as long as it's not about just sex and there's emotion involved, at least on one side. Other than that, it's all up to you. Have fun! :)

  • Something scary at some point (something/one being unintentionally scary, a ghost or some real creepy thing, a dream, a movie - whatever you like :))
  • Discussion of Pegasus galaxy traditions (do they also have day/night of the dead? what of the ancestors, of other planes of existence... well you ge the point - there's much that can be exploroed and wouldn't you bet Elizabeth would be interested, and who exactly would be explaining these things? Has Rodney learnt this stuff from missions, or is it Teyla, another Athosian, or some other person/people entirely - lots of scope here)
  • Lastly Rodney talking science (not exactly hard to work it in, but lets see how interesting everyone can make that one ;))

Summary: Well in honour of people of the occasion in general I think there should be a challenge. I'm not sure how other countries celebrate New Years so forgive me if I miss out any traditions, I'm just going on how I've seen US on TV and experienced it myself in the UK.

  • Obviously set on New Years Eve
  • With traditinal new years eve kissing (possibly paired up by someone else - not necessariy people choosing who they get too)
  • Optional singing of auld lang syne - nice way to get Beckket and Grodin into the story
  • Other new years eve tradition for the international Atlantis crowd
  • McKay/Weir or McKay or Weir focused.

Summary:

It's inspired by the song Almost Forgot Myself by Doves. Lyrics here

The challenge is to write a fic where one of them acts a little out of character from canon. Technically alot of ship fic is out of canon but this is for a fic that would be canon apart from that touch of OOC.

How much is up to you, could be Rodney being a little more caring than anyone expects him, even for Elizabeth or it could be very much OOC - the aim being that the characters in the fic are doing something out of the ordinary in relation to what we see on show and we'll know they are.

An optional extra would be for the character(s) to realise they were acting differently, like they 'almost forgot themselves'. Hope I've explained well enough and that there are interesting places to go with it.
